With the session well behind us here in Wyoming, it’s important that gun owners take stock of what went right and what went wrong this session in the fight for the Second Amendment. Of course, with your help, our bill to end the deadly ‘Gun Free Zones’ (HB 137) cleared the House and Senate, only to be vetoed by Governor Mead. Perhaps worse, our bill to allow for Campus Carry
Thank you so much for your calls and emails yesterday into the Wyoming Senate! Thanks to your activism, the Senate rejected the anti-gun amendment that was offered by Senator Burns which would have totally undermined the bill. As a reminder, HB 137 would repeal the prohibition on carrying firearms in government buildings like the Capitol, city halls, locations where county commissioners hold meetings, and more to every gun owner with
In an outrageous betrayal of gun owners, the Wyoming Senate just voted to kill our Campus Carry legislation (HB 136) by a vote of 17-13 earlier today! This means that teachers, students, and staff at all of Wyoming’s public universities are going to be left totally helpless in the face of an armed madman. All this in a Senate chamber that purports to be pro-gun! Understand this, this isn’t Colorado
Last week both HB136 “Campus Carry” and HB137 “Repeal Gun Free Zones” made it past the Senate Judiciary committee, and must now face a full vote on the Senate floor. Inside sources say the vote may happen as early as TOMORROW. We’ve known from the start that this is where we would run into the most trouble. Remember, the liberal media has been claiming these bills will die in the
I have good news and bad news to report. Thanks to your calls and emails, the disastrous and deadly bill proposed by Rep. Connolly to mandate a 3-day waiting period for firearm purchases has been killed in committee. Thanks to your loud voices and our boots on the ground, the pro-gun committee voted 8-1 to put this bill in the trash. And it’s a good thing they did, otherwise helpless
Things are happening fast in Cheyenne. Working with Representative Bo Biteman, we’ve introduced HB137 to repeal Wyoming’s deadly “Gun Free Zones” policy in all government buildings! Has your representative co-sponsored this legislation? We need them to stand with us and the other pro-gun legislators in support of this bill. It’s pretty simple, if you’re legally allowed to carry a firearm, you’re legally allowed to carry your firearm onto public property.
Since passing Constitutional Carry in 2011, politicians in BOTH parties in Wyoming have had one simple message for gun owners: “GO AWAY!” In fact, anti-gun members of BOTH parties — with the help of weak-kneed sellouts in legislative leadership — have defeated every bill and every reform pushed by Wyoming’s Second Amendment supporters. As I’ve watched this madness, I can’t help but think, “How much longer until we become Colorado?”
Let me start by saying thank you! The Wyoming legislature has only been in session for two days and already they are very aware that Wyoming Gun Owners is watching closely. Because of the early support from you and fellow Wyoming gun owners, legislators are already paying attention! We’re excited to announce we’ll be working with Representative Bo Biteman (HD-51) to repeal the deadly “Gun Free Zones” in Wyoming code!
