HB-114 passes house 42-17

I watched as HB-114 Repeal Gun Free Zones passed the House vote 42-17 — without any amendments.

Now it moves to the Senate.

The bill’s House sponsors are as follows — and they deserve your gratitude:

Rep(s) Allen Jaggi, Mark Baker, Mark Jennings, Kendell Kroeker, Tyler Lindholm, Bunky Loucks, Dave Miller, Garry Piiparinen and Tom Reeder.

If HB-114 was signed into law it would allow citizens who possess a concealed-carry permit to carry in public schools, colleges and universities and government buildings. See HB-114 here. The best ‘safe’ schools, college campus and government building policy consists of citizens simply exercising their right to self defense. And the good news is…it’s been working this way in neighboring Utah for the last 15 years.

While today’s advance is great news — a tough fight is now mounting in the Senate. Sadly the Wyoming Senate has rejected similar gun free zone repeal legislation for two years in a row. By using political maneuvers like refusing to move the bill out of committee and to the floor, or by letting the bill sit idle until the time runs out during the session. Either way the Senate’s tactics effectively killed this much needed legislation in 2013 and 2014.

First, contact all three in Senate Leadership*** Ask them to get HB-114 to the floor for a vote.

Next, urge your own Senator to follow the House’s lead in passing HB-114 Repeal Gun Free Zones without any amendments. If you know who your Senator is, please contact them here. If you need to look up your Senator you can do so here.

P.S. HB-114 Repeal Gun Free Zones is moving over to the Senate. Please contact your Senator immediately and urge them to support this much needed legislation. Then please consider contributing to WyGO an amount of $25, $35, $50 or whatever you can afford.

By chipping in, you can help ensure that WyGO (the only boots on the ground gun rights org) can be ready to expose politicians who vote against this legislation to ‘repeal’ gun free killing zones.
