Wyoming gun owners just witnessed a disgraceful betrayal in Cheyenne.

After months of work and overwhelming grassroots support, Governor Mark Gordon vetoed SF-101 — Wyoming Gun Owners’ bill to strengthen our Second Amendment Preservation Act.

That veto should have been overridden.

But instead, a group of RINO ‘Republicans’ joined with the Democrats and blocked the motion to override Gordon’s veto.

The vote in the Senate was: 12-18, with 1 excused.

(Because the bill did not come out of the Senate, which was the originating chamber, the bill will not be voted on in the House.)

Let’s be clear about what just happened. These politicians just gave the middle finger to gun owners by choosing Governor Gordon and anti-gun lobbyists over the Second Amendment.

That is unacceptable.

The Second Amendment Preservation Act simply ensures that the federal government cannot use Wyoming law enforcement to enforce federal gun control laws against our citizens.

In a state like Wyoming, that should be common sense.

But the law enforcement lobby fought this bill all session long, and when the pressure increased, several Republicans folded.

(Dozens of Wyoming law enforcement officers, including sheriffs from various parts of the state, were on hand to kill the Second Amendment Preservation Act today.)

Wyoming Gun Owners members will not forget this vote.

And we will not allow the politicians responsible to hide from it. This is an election year.

Most of the legislators who refused to override Gordon’s veto will face voters in the August primaries.

And Wyoming Gun Owners members have a long history of removing anti-gun politicians from office.

Over the coming weeks, we will be identifying the legislators who refused to stand with gun owners and making sure voters across Wyoming know exactly what happened in Cheyenne.

But holding politicians accountable takes resources.

Primary challenges require organizing, voter outreach, advertising, and mobilizing gun owners across the state.
