Over the weekend, President Trump named Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to replace the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the United States Supreme Court!
Radical gun-grabbers are in meltdown mode over Barrett’s nomination, which is always a good sign.
Now the fight over Barrett’s nomination moves to the U.S. Senate, where Senate Democrats are vowing to do everything in their power to block her nomination from proceeding.
While there are limits to what they can do, Senator Schumer and his America-hating leftists have been joined by multiple Republican Senators who are trying to delay any vote on Barrett’s nomination.
Even though Barrett hasn’t been a federal judge for very long, her decision in Kanter v Barr speaks volumes about her willingness to back an originalist view of the Second Amendment!
In her dissent in this case, Judge Barrett made it clear that Americans should not lose their gun rights over non-violent felony convictions — an extremely hot topic in the gun rights community.
Barrett said:
“History is consistent with common sense: it demonstrates that legislatures have the power to prohibit dangerous people from possessing guns…But that power extends only to people who are dangerous. Founding legislatures did not strip felons of the right to bear arms simply because of their status as felons.”
This willingness to apply an originalist philosophy to our Second Amendment rights is very welcome news to gun owners!
And that’s why every gun control organization in America is doing everything they can to block a vote on Barrett’s nomination!
