Session is coming fast in Cheyenne, and everything we’re hearing right now points to one reality:
Governor Mark Gordon is preparing to bring SF-12 back from the dead.
Last year, WYGO members crushed this bill. We killed it in committee, exposed it publicly, and made every legislator in Cheyenne understand exactly what a “Permanent Protective Order” would do to innocent gun owners.
But here’s the truth most Wyoming gun owners haven’t heard:
It was the Attorney General’s office that pushed SF-12 in committee — not the legislature.
And while that AG is now gone, we have been told repeatedly that Governor Gordon is leaning on his team to dust off this monstrosity and run it again in the 2026 Budget Session.
If Gordon pulls the trigger on this, SF-12 could move very fast.
And because Budget Sessions are short, a bill like this can become law before most people even know it’s happening.
We need to prepare now.

Here’s a reminder of what SF-12 really is:
👉 Creates a brand-new “Permanent Protective Order” in Wyoming.
Right now we have a 3-day TPO and a 3-year FPO. This bill creates a third category, one that never expires.
👉 Allows judges to impose lifetime gun bans in civil court.
No criminal charges. No trial. No due process. A judge can simply “believe” a crime occurred and take your rights forever.
👉 Turns temporary and final orders into lifetime bans after the fact. This is exactly what the gun control left wants, a backdoor gun ban disguised as a civil procedure.
👉 Only deep-blue states like New York, California, and Maryland have something this extreme. And they want Wyoming to be their next test case.
WYGO members stood in the gap last year and stopped it. But Gordon and his allies clearly haven’t given up.
That’s why we’re mobilizing now — not after session starts, not after the bill drops, not after the committee hearing is scheduled.
We’re preparing petitions, statewide email alerts, digital pressure ads, text broadcasts, and mail pieces to bury SF-12 the moment it resurfaces.
But to do that, we need your help.
