Breaking: SAPA Passes House Committee 6-1

Fri, Feb 27, 2026

I have a major update for Wyoming Gun Owners members from Cheyenne.

The House Appropriations Committee just finished its hearing on SF-101 — the strongest version of the Second Amendment Preservation Act currently moving through the legislature.

And the results were very encouraging.

First, every harmful amendment pushed by the law enforcement lobby was blocked.

These were the same types of amendments that were used earlier in the session to weaken SAPA in other committees. Killing them was absolutely critical.

Second, our amendment to strengthen the bill was successfully adopted.

This amendment restores and reinforces the enforcement provisions that make SAPA meaningful, ensuring that Wyoming law enforcement agencies cannot assist the federal government in enforcing unconstitutional gun control laws.

FinallySF-101 passed the House Appropriations Committee on a vote of 6–1.

That means the bill now moves to the Wyoming House of Representatives for full consideration.

This was a major victory — and it would not have happened without strong leadership inside the legislature.

Wyoming Gun Owners would like to give a big thank you to:

  • Chairman John Bear
  • Vice Chairman Ken Pendergraft
  • Speaker Pro-Tem Jeremy Haroldson

All three worked hard in committee to defend SAPA and ensure that the bill moved forward without being weakened.

(Reps Bear, Pendegraft, and Haroldson have fought hard for the Second Amendment Preservation Act this session.)

But our work is not finished yet.

Now that SF-101 is headed to the House floor, anti-gun lobbyists and government agencies will continue pushing lawmakers to weaken or kill this bill before final passage.

We must keep the pressure on.
