Major Victory For Gun Owners in Cheyenne!

There have been a lot of things happening here in Cheyenne.

I want to give you a concise update.

First, I’m very happy to announce that WYGO has successfully blocked SF-12 in the Senate Judiciary Committee!

This was legislation that would have created a Lifetime Protective Order in Wyoming, which would include a lifetime gun ban, via civil processes where no criminal charges were ever filed.

(I was happy to testify on behalf of WYGO members in the Senate Judiciary Committee against SF-12 earlier this week.)

While this bill could always be resurrected via an amendment, I am very confident that we have shut down this threat for the year.

The even better news is that WYGO’s SF-196 (the Second Amendment Preservation Act) has now passed its first and second reading votes in the Senate!

SF-196 fixes all of the gaps in Wyoming’s existing SAPA law. If we pass this bill, as it currently stands, it would be the best SAPA law of any state in America!

This bill is being carried by Senator Tim Salazar, and its leading co-sponsor is Senate President Bo Biteman. With their support, and thanks to your calls and emails, this bill is moving to the Senate at warp speed.

(Senator Tim Salazar, myself and Senate President Bo Biteman, moments after the floor vote on SAPA earlier this week.)

I expect the final Senate vote on SF-196 to take place on Monday. From there, the bill moves over to the House.

I’ve already had meetings with House leaders to discuss the bill, and am optimistic about its chances.

Clearly, there is a lot going on.

WYGO will continue to update you on this bill. Please help WYGO to continue to fight for you in the following ways:

>>> Send this pre-written email to your Senator, telling him/her to vote yes on SF-196.

>>> Encourage your friends and family to do the same thing.
