Session Begins Monday: Time to Finish SAPA

Fri, Feb 6, 2026

The Wyoming legislative session officially begins on Mondayand the fight to finish the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) starts immediately.

As you know, the legislature already did its job last session.

SF-196 — the upgraded Second Amendment Preservation Act — passed the Wyoming Senate 29–1 and the House 53–7, only to be vetoed by Governor Mark Gordon.

That vote margin made one thing crystal clear: the legislature knows that gun owners in Wyoming aren’t going to stop until we have a real, enforceable SAPA law on the books.

Now it’s time to finish the job.

TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS: SUPPORT SAPA LAW!

Wyoming’s current SAPA law still has serious gaps that must be fixed:

  1. No civil penalties; meaning gun owners have no real way to defend themselves if our rights are violated.
  2. A total carve-out for federal gun seizure task forces; allowing the feds to bypass SAPA entirely.
  3. No clear guidance for law enforcement; creating confusion and abuse instead of protection.

That’s exactly what WYGO’s SAPA legislation was designed to fix.

And with President Trump in the White House, there is no excuse for delay. This is the moment to lock these protections into law once and for all.

And make no mistake — this is an election year.

Everyone in Cheyenne knows that if they don’t finish this fight, gun owners will take that into account in the 2026 primaries.

TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS: SUPPORT SAPA LAW!

That’s why we need you to take action right now.

Please send your PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL to your State Senator and State Representative, urging them to co-sponsor, publicly support, and vote for the real Second Amendment Preservation Act.

Session begins on Monday.

Take action immediately.
