Current Wyoming law makes it impossible for a Wyomingite age 18, 19, or 20 to apply for a concealed carry permit! This legislation would change that and lower the current requirement of 21 down to 18.
18–20-year-olds can die for their country, can get married, can have a family, can pay taxes, can have a career…the idea that they can’t get a permit to carry a handgun concealed is simply wrong.
But it’s more than that, it’s unconstitutional in light of the Bruen decision…and the 5th, 3rd, and 8th Circuit Appeals Courts have ruled in agreement with that decision.
HB-96, sponsored by Representative Haroldson, would fix that by lowering the age to get a permit to carry a handgun to 18!
While you must be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer, 18-20 year old’s can receive a handgun from parents or purchase one in a private sale that doesn’t involve an FFL-dealer.
Now that this bill is filed, please send this PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL to your State Senator and State Representative and urge them to pass HB-96 right away!
